The Emergency Department provides care to Veterans for acute and urgent medical problems and referrals to primary care for Veterans requesting long-term follow-up care. Psychiatric walk-ins are triaged and referred to psychiatric specialty as PES (Psychiatric Emergency Services). The most frequent presenting problems are acute exacerbations such as COPD, CAD, hypertension, diabetes and diseases related to substance abuse, especially alcohol. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
