RN Seasonal Surgical Trauma FT Days Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (seasonal) has mastered basic technical and organizational nursing skills. Has skills in evaluating patient responses and uses past experiences and evidence-based practices in providing care and decision- making. There is a focus on outcomes, and care is delivered using a systematic approach. The Registered Nurse (seasonal) is able to make independent decisions guided by experience, as well as policies and standards. Consults with other members of the healthcare team when necessary. Maintain acceptable standards of patient care within the clinical area. The Registered Nurse (seasonal) is assigned to a specific patient care unit. The Registered Nurse (seasonal) tour of duty is no longer than 9 months and based on the organizationâ��s staffing needs.
Assessment - An RN uses a systematic, dynamic way to collect and analyze data about a client, the first step in delivering nursing care. Assessment includes not only physiological data, but also psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and life-style factors as well.
Focused assessment based on patient condition, setting and population
Problem Identification - Problem identification is the nurseâ��s clinical judgment about the clientâ��s response to actual or potential health conditions or needs.
Planning and Outcomes â�� Based on the assessment and problem identification, the nurse sets measurable and achievable short- and long-range goals in collaboration with the patient and family. Assessment data, problem identification, and goals are written in the patientâ��s care plan so that nurses as well as other health professionals caring for the patient have access to it.
Establishing daily goals with the patient and family

Transition or Discharge planning
Implementation â�� Nursing care is implemented according to the care plan, so continuity of care for the patient during hospitalization and in preparation for discharge is assured. Care is documented in the patientâ��s record.
Ensures patient safety
Provision of ordered treatments
Provision of nursing care
Documentation in healthcare record
Evaluation â�� Both the patientâ��s status and the effectiveness of the nursing care must be continuously evaluated, and the care plan modified as needed.
Care Coordination â�� Actions initiated by nurses with patients, families, and/or members of their healthcare team to manage and correct the sequence, timing, and/or effectiveness of patient care from admission to discharge.
THE RN SEASONAL SURGICAL TRAUMA FT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
Required: Valid current Arizona Nursing License or valid Compact license if primary residence is not in Arizona. BLS and other as noted in Attachment A for individual departments.
Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
Required: Must have functioned in an RN role for a minimum of 1 year.
