ChristianaCare is currently looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist for our Behavioral Health Team at our Newark, Wilmington, and Cecil Campus. The selected candidate will assist to develop practice standards, contribute to the development of others and shape/influence nursing practice within behavioral health and the department of nursing. The selected candidate will also take responsibility for facilitating change toward higher levels of professionalism and competency by integrating and promoting evidence-based research findings into nursing practice. This position will be Monday through Friday, no holidays, weekends as needed. The hours will be primarily 7a to 330p.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides leadership by catalyzing and facilitating change toward higher levels of professionalism and competency.

Acts as a clinical consultant and resource to patients, family, and staff in area of specialty.

Facilitates continuity of care for complex patients.

Collaborates with professionals from multiple disciplines to enhance patient outcomes.

Appropriately utilizes advanced clinical decision-making skills.

Provides teaching and counseling to select patients and families.

Collaborates in the review of educational materials.

Assists staff in the development of innovative and cost-effective patient programs of care.

Utilizes, participates in, and disseminates research to enhance practice.

Promotes evidence-based practice in the provision of nursing care.

Consistently guides staff in professional development; acts as a mentor.

Coordinates select projects/programs, including development and implementation of clinical pathways, care management guidelines, and protocols

Utilizes effective verbal and written communication skills with patients and colleagues.

Ensures compliance with regulatory standards for behavioral health.

Provides direct patient care as needed.

Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in Behavioral Health preferred

Licensure or license eligible for Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nursing as set forth by the Delaware and Maryland Boards of Nursing

BLS certification
