This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. The Registered Nurse (RN) is a proficient RN who uses advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making and evaluating outcomes. The incumbent leads and organizes the delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice. The incumbent functions as an expert in clinical practice and/or in areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities. The incumbent systematically evaluates current practice, and formulating outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within area of expertise. The incumbent guides develops and support staff from a leadership perspective. The incumbent uses professional standards of care, scientific evidence and practice to evaluate and practice to evaluate programs and/or service activities. Responsibility includes planning, organizing, developing, directing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the human and material resources necessary to support compliance with the Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Performance as defined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and Magnet Model Components. The Magnet Program Director is accountable for the writing of the document as well as the collection, preparation and submission of required data to maintain Magnet designation and requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. S/he participates in the design and implementation of formal mentoring opportunities for external health care organization personnel. The Magnet Program Director leads and coordinates activities related to the organization's journey to Magnet re-designation. She/he acts as a resource and liaison between nursing leadership, nursing staff, physicians, the Magnet Program Director, the community and others to assess and facilitate organization readiness. Serves as chair of the Magnet Steering Committee. Coordinates the application and appraisal process for Magnet recognition, as well as overseeing requirements for maintaining Magnet recognition and coordinating efforts for re- designation. The incumbent demonstrates collaboration by using the group process to identify, analyze and solve problems. The focus is on leadership in strategically long-term goals for the microsystem (program or service level; facility; VISN or VACO) that impacts operations or resources. The incumbent demonstrates critical thinking with efficiency and accuracy in assessing and managing situations. Uses a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve problems that result in improved outcomes. Participates in the selection, design, implementation, and maintenance in administrative and clinical systems/programs which supports the Clinical Practice in all facets (i.e. financial, scheduling, electronic medical record, decision support, diagnostic information systems).
