Third AOC will be given to the public (U.S. Citizens and U.S. Nationals). This Nursing Assistant (NA) position is available in Acute Psychiatry at the Topeka, Kansas VAMC. The incumbent provides care to psychiatric patients, as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, following the nursing care plan. The Nursing Assistant works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and is responsible for the nursing care provided to the patients assigned to him/her. The duties include but are not limited to: Assisting veterans with activities of daily living. Bathing and assisting in personal cleanliness and hygiene. Assist with physical movement, such as walking or repositioning in bed. Making beds, changing linens when soiled, straightening for comfort. Maintain environment that is safe and clean. Assist with laundry. Record ability to perform activities of daily living. Record vital signs. Assist in admission, transfer or discharge processes. Assists with orienting patient/family to unit routines and policies. Works as a cooperative, courteous member of the interdisciplinary team. Safeguards patient's right to privacy by judiciously protecting information of a confidential nature. Uses proper safety practices. Communicates effectively with patients/residents, their families and other health professionals. Other duties as assign. Work Schedule: Full Time, Day shift, 12 hour shifts, 0730-2000 with rotating tours, weekends, and holidays. However, a variety of work schedules may be available; work schedule will be determined upon selection. NOTE: Will be expected to work rotating weekends and holidays. Telework: Not available. Paid Time Off: Receive 13 to 26 days paid annual (vacation/personal) leave per year, 13 sick days annual with no limitation on accumulation, and 11 paid federal holidays.
