The Inpatient(10W/RRTP) Night Supervisor- Mental Health position provides oversight to Mental Health Nursing Care activities to include: coordinating staffing for RRTP/10W units, serves as a liaison between the unit &other hospital departments, provides direct oversight for admissions on off tours to include pre-screening &recommending appropriate level of care, support to inpatient units, responds to all RRTs &Codes within Mental health, &assist in coordinating Mental Health patient transfers. The RN is assigned to inpatient mental health unit and is accountable to the Unit Nurse Manager. The RN is responsible for the delivery of fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned mental health patients while developing technical competencies. The RN understands professional practice standards and principles and applies these concepts into mental health practice. The RN must possess the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary mental health practice setting. This clinical knowledge enables the RN to effectively implement mental health promotion and prevention interventions, manage acute and chronic illness, and assist mental health patients achieve optimal levels of functioning. The RN must complete mandatory and annual competencies for equipment and procedures, adhere to unit-based protocols, maintain a current BLS certification, and work collaboratively with other disciplines in the Medical Center. The RN will participate in in-services and performance improvement activities and customer services programs at unit and service line levels. Adheres to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice for Mental Health Nursing Demonstrates leadership when providing nursing care or developing programs that will improve the delivery of nursing care Serves a role model when assigned as team leader under the supervision of the Associate Chief Nurse of Mental Health. Demonstrates ability to function effectively in team leader or other leadership roles requiring application of problem solving skills at the team level, and uses team approaches to identify, analyze and resolve problems. The candidate must possess strong critical thinking skills, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The Inpatient(10W/RRTP) Night Supervisor- Mental Health will be expected to participate in facility level quality improvement projects that lead to improved patient outcomes and efficiencies. The candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and is an extension of management. They will be expected to participate is the Nursing Shared Governance structure and promote a positive work environment. Work Schedule: 7:30 p.m.-8:00a.m., with rotating weekends.
