The Stroke Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating services and activities. Responsible for establishing and monitoring clinical performance criteria, developing
effective treatment plans for selected patients, and ensuring utilization of discharge planning techniques to enhance movement of
patients to appropriate levels of care. Assures compliance with Stroke Center regulatory requirements, and responsible for staff
education and direction. Acts as a liaison to the community for the stroke center by providing and organizing education awareness of
signs and symptoms of stroke, current medical treatments, risk factors, preventions and rehabilitation services.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelors of Science in Nursing
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years clinical experience working with neurological/neurosurgical patient
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Development and management of clinical programs; Additional Emergency Room
and/or Intensive Care Unit experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State license for Registered Nurse.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certification in ACLS, CCRN, CNRN, SCRN
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): ? BLSâ��Obtained through approved American Heart
Association Training Center or the Military Training Network.
