These Nurse Practitioner - Mental Health Prescriber positions are located in Mental Health at the Manchester VA Medical Center or Somersworth NH Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) location. This position is a full-time at 40 hours per week. The VA Medical Center in Manchester is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner who is certified in Adult Psychiatric Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner. The incumbent will be accountable for the delivery of quality care including the assessment, diagnosis and prescribing services for the management of Veterans with acute and chronic mental illnesses. S/He will work collaboratively with disciplines within the Mental Health Service Line and within the VA Medical Center. In the clinical setting, the incumbent will be responsible for serving a critical role in the outpatient continuity of care. S/He will independently manage a caseload of Mental Health patients within the mental Health Clinic. S/He will participate in transitioning Veterans from inpatient to outpatient treatment settings, provide ongoing evaluation and diagnosis, and assess psychological functioning, substance abuse, and psychosocial well-being, and treatment of Veterans. A primary function in this role includes providing assessment and diagnosis to individuals with mental illness and prescribing psychiatric medications and treatment. Work Schedule: The primary work schedule is 8:00 am - 4:30 pm although both full and part time opportunities exist. Extended Hour tours may be required.
