Ensures quality patient care by assisting in the management of clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery that supports optimal patient outcomes. Creates a therapeutic environment to enhance healthcare delivery. Provides validation of clinical decisions for staff members.
Collects and interprets assessment data accurately. Makes clinical decisions based on education and experience. Integrates varied patient experiences into clinical decision making.
Serves as a resource for referral planning to provide continued patient treatment after discharge. Advocates for patients' rights and appropriate utilization of services.
Documents and assists health team member in documenting according to accepted standards. Evaluates outcomes of documentation and participates in performance improvement activities related to documentation.
Facilitates unit teams/committees that impact practice. Integrates and links unit committee initiatives to facility initiatives. Supports organization's strategic initiatives.
Demonstrates effective communication skills and exercises discretion and judgment when assisting in the resolution of conflict among healthcare team members, patients and families.
Facilitates the interdisciplinary team and incorporates the interdisciplinary team to achieve outcomes. Serves as a change agent by implementing practice initiatives.
Delegates patient care activities and coordinates unit activities. Monitors patient care satisfaction.
Assists staff in their professional development and in the identification of needed resources to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Ensures patient care area compliance with professional regulatory and government standards of care.
Functions as the unit leader for the quality improvement process. Recognizes trends in patient care delivery and explores opportunities for improvement that are evidence-based. Analyzes practices that contribute to variances, draws conclusions from aggregate data, identifies resources to assist in variance analysis, and assists with drawing conclusions from aggregate data.
Recognizes behaviors that impact team function and implements strategies to optimize teamwork. Serves as a mentor for team members. Provides consistent communication and demonstrates mutual support.
Facilitates leadership development among colleagues.
Reviews self-development plan and professional goals. Seeks new knowledge toward the progression of professional goals.
Maintains personal continuing education record. Maintains up-to-date employee files to include mandatory requirements, continuing education records and pertinent supervision notations.
Associate's degree in Nursing with at least five years of experience; BSN strongly preferred.
Three years of clinical and management experience in behavioral health nursing.
NJ RN license.
Basic knowledge of computer office programs.
