Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse

A part-time, 18.75 hours/week, 52 week, professional Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse position is open. Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Psychiatric Services, Center for Counseling & Psychological Health (CCPH), is responsible for the evaluation and treatment (including medication management and ordering of appropriate diagnostic procedures) of a wide range of patients presenting to the clinic; participates in preventive mental health programs as a consultant and leader of workshops. Participates in "second" on-call rotation, providing consultation and emergency interventions with acute patient situations.
Minimum Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing plus two years of experience practicing in the expanded role, as a prescribing psychiatric clinical nurse specialist/nurse practitioner. Demonstrated competence in adult Psychopharmacology, demonstrated competence in consultation and crisis intervention, and ability to exercise considerable judgment and ability to make assessments quickly and accurately. Professional nurse licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse/Prescribing Clinician (RN-PC) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or licensed in another state and license eligible in Massachusetts at the time of application, license to be obtained by start date. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Certification as an Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PMHCNS-BC) or ANCC Certification as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Possession of current registration numbers with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for prescribing controlled substances. Possession of current registration numbers with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) for prescribing controlled substances, or eligible in Massachusetts at the time of application, to be obtained within 60 days of hire date.
