Position Summary Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Clinical Coordinator provides an optimal practice environment for the care of patients. Expertly uses the nursing process to oversee care for patients on a particular unit and participates in patient care as needed. Plans, organizes, controls and coordinates the department activities for a shift ensuring high quality patient care and efficient, cost effective service.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 1. Meets all requirements for RN II Staff Position in applicable unit. 2. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills which promote and enhance leadership with staff, patients families and ancillary departments. 3. Communicates effectively with appropriate team members in a timely manner. 4. Ability to solve problems, analyze situations, think critically, and give constructive feedback. 5. Ability to supervise and team with others. 6. Proficient in the use of technology.
Age Related Competencies • Human development knowledge/skills: • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served including knowledge of principles of growth and development and psychosocial characteristics and interventions for infant (0-1 year), child (1-5 years), school age (6-12 years), adolescent (13-17 years), young adult (18-45 years), middle adult (46-60 years), older adult (60+ years). • Age specific patient needs that employee is required to understand: • Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret age appropriate data about the patient's status in order to identify age-specific needs and provide the care needed. Additional requirements: • Demonstrates age appropriate communication skills for the patient population served. • Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific community resources.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor Degree in Nursing. Current Clinical Coordinator employees may retain a non-nursing bachelor's degree but they may not be promoted to higher level nursing positions. Experience: At least two years recent experience in an acute hospital setting. License: Current California Registered Nurse License. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support. (BLS). Certification: Professional certification is required in area of practice or a related field. If promoted into the role, employees have 12 months after exam eligibility to optain the certification. Candidates must meet the minimum requirements for a Clinical Nurse in the area of specialization.
