PRIMARY PURPOSE Responsible for quality management of healthcare issues for patients in designated primary or specialty area, including patient diagnoses, treatment, education and referrals to ensure optimal patient medical management consistent with the PHHS mission of patient centered/patient valued care.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS Education: -Must have completed an accredited graduate or post-graduate Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. -Must have a Master's degree in Nursing.
Certification/Registration/Licensure: -Must have current, valid RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid compact RN license. -Must have a current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with authorization to practice as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing. -Must have active certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner by the National Certification Corporation.
-Must have current healthcare provider CPR (CPR-HP) course completion card from one of the following: oAmerican Heart Association oAmerican Red Cross Rescuer oMilitary Training Network.
-Must maintain current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). -Must meet and maintain licensing and registration requirements as delineated by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and Credentialing Policies/Procedures, if any.
Equivalent Experience: -If hired at Parkland before March 1, 2014, may have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills or Special Abilities: -Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards. -Must be able to function independently and as a member of the Parkland healthcare team. -Must have effective written and verbal communication skills in working with a diverse population of patients and families, nurses, physicians and community agencies. -Must have knowledge and skill in educating patients and families. -Must demonstrate superior clinical skills in the medical management of acutely ill infants. -Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
