The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Purdue University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Clinical Education in Speech-Language Pathology. The position is a full-time, 12-month appointment as clinical faculty. Anticipated start date is 1 July 2018, but is negotiable. The Director of Clinical Education in Speech-Language Pathology oversees clinical education for the MS-SLP program and mentors clinical faculty in the program including the Director of the M.D. Steer Speech and Language Clinic.
For almost eight decades, the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences has been a national leader in clinical education and research. The Department is part of the College of Health and Human Sciences and resides in full in the new Lyles-Porter Hall, joined by clinics from College units in Health and Kinesiology, Nursing, Nutritional Sciences, and Psychological Sciences as well as the Indiana University of School of Medicine – West Lafayette. These allied professions provide especially rich opportunities for interprofessional education. The Department offers an undergraduate degree and three graduate degrees, MS-SLP, AuD, and PhD. Programs in speech-language pathology and audiology are accredited by the Council of Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The Department enjoys excellence and distinction in all of its programs, promotes faculty development through scholarship and research, progressive teaching, and engagement locally, state-wide, and nationally.
The main focus for the Director of Clinical Education in Speech-Language Pathology is personalized professional preparation of students in communication sciences to become outstanding evidence-based practitioners. Applicants must have a Master’s or doctoral degree, CCC-SLP, and be eligible for Indiana licensure in speech-language pathology. A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience is required. The candidate will be eligible for appointment as a clinical full professor.
