Nemours Children’s Specialty Care in Jacksonville, Florida is recruiting a board-eligible or board-certified Pediatric Pulmonologist to join our Division of Pulmonology.
New fellows and established pulmonologists are encouraged to apply, as opportunities exist for teaching, clinical research, program development, advancement and leadership. Applicants must possess or be eligible for Florida licensure.
Jacksonville is located in northeast Florida with Atlantic Ocean beaches only a 30-minute drive from downtown. The city is growing and encompasses a metropolitan area of approximately 1.4 million.
Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, Jacksonville is operated by the Nemours Foundation, one of the nation's largest pediatric subspecialty practices. We are affiliated with the Mayo Medical School, the University of Florida Health Science Center at Jacksonville, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. The Department of Pediatrics is home to the Center for Pharmacogenomics and Translational Research, which participates in asthma trials as part of the American Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Center (ALA-ACRC) network.
The Division of Pulmonology is a busy clinical practice with clinical research and teaching opportunities. We are an accredited Cystic Fibrosis Care Center (CFF) and Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutics Development Network (CFTDN) Research Center and have additional programs in pediatric asthma, home ventilation and bronchoscopy. Our team includes 3 pediatric pulmonologists, an ARNP, nurse coordinators, respiratory therapists, a social worker, dietician and genetic counselor who work together in a collegial and friendly environment. The sleep program is staffed by 2 pediatric sleep neurologists.
Our outpatient facility is equipped with pulmonary function laboratories for complete pulmonary function testing, exercise testing and allergy skin testing. Inpatient care is provided at the adjacent Wolfson Children's Hospital, a 199-bed facility with a 20-bed PICU, 10-bed CVICU, 48-bed level 3 NICU and a 12-bed combined pediatric and adult sleep center. House staff includes residents from the Pediatric Residency Program of the University of Florida – Jacksonville.
Responsibilities of the pediatric pulmonologists include outpatient and inpatient care, performing bronchoscopies and sharing on-call services. Academic appointments are available in the Department of Pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine and the University of Florida. Opportunities for non-clinical activities include program development, Associate Director of the Center for Pharmacogenomics and Translational Research, participation in asthma and CF clinical research studies, Associate CF Program Director, Director of the Pulmonary Function Lab, and further expansion of the sleep program. Protected research time is available for qualified applicants.
