Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for helping with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, consultations, and prescribing medications. The NP is also responsible for promoting a safe and therapeutic environment for clients who are detoxifying or recovering from substance dependency.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts patient History and Physical examinations.
Assesses patients' medical urgency, determines care needs based upon presented symptoms and department standards of care. Collaborates care with Medical Director.
Formulates patient specific goals directed plan of care which is prioritized and based on nursing assessment and patient outcomes in collaboration with Medical Director.
Develops, individualizes, and professionally modifies care through physical, psychosocial and cognitive realms of nursing assessment.
Prescribes medication to meet patient needs in collaboration with protocols and Medical Director.
Ensures total patient care needs are met at all times.
Evaluates the effectiveness of care given by self and others, revising the plan of care accordingly.
Evaluates data in collaboration with counseling and clinical staff members to influence the revision of the total patient care service.
Performs complete documentation responsibilities relating to patient's medical records in a timely, accurate and concise manner consistent with MA state requirements.
Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate personnel, and documenting events.
Checks emergency and medical equipment as assigned and replaces and maintains emergency equipment as needed.
Positively promotes Summit Behavioral Health to prospective clients and employees.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties as assigned.
Master's Degree and Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Practitioner license (APN, APRN, or NP)
Current license in good standing in Massachusetts.
Demonstrated computer proficiency.
Experience working with psychiatric or co-occurring patients preferred.

Ability to conduct History & Physical examinations, assess needs and deliver medical services to individuals detoxifying from substance abuse.
Ability to screen for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms.
Ability to screen for danger to self or others.
Ability to analyze and interpret data to determine medical recommendations and priorities.
Ability to appropriately prescribe and monitor medications in collaboration with the Medical Director.
Demonstrated adherence to acceptable ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.
Participation in continuing Professional Development.
Understanding of the benefits and limitations of toxicology testing procedures.
Knowledge of strategies for treating alcohol, cocaine, and other drug abuse.
Knowledge of medication-assisted therapy.
Ability to provide education and information to individuals and groups, through formal and/or informal processes, concerning their substance abuse.
Demonstrated knowledge of accepted principles of client record management.
Ability to collaborate and advise medical, nursing, and clinical staff regarding patient care.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to walk up and down stairs during emergency drills or situations.
