Mercy Birthing Center is seeking to hire a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our rapidly expanding practice. We are among an elite subset of integrated birthing centers geographically located within the hospital setting. This affords us the opportunity to support physiologic birth with a hands-on, low-interventive model of care, with the safety net of immediate access to tertiary services. We provide full-scope obstetrical and gynecological care to low-risk women. We have welcomed 800 babies since we opened three years ago.

Mercy Hospital is seeking to hire a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our new faculty midwife team. We have a tremendous opportunity to train OBGYN residents in the intrapartum, postpartum, and triage settings. This provides a unique ability to teach them both physiologic and medical management models of care through direct supervision on patient care units, lectures, and research projects. We are investing in the next generation of OBGYNs!

Mercy is the maternity leader in this area. We have introduced many great services; for example we were the first facility in the state to offer nitrous oxide to laboring moms.
Mercy is located in suburban St. Louis which offers beautiful residential areas. It is a community with a remarkably low cost of living for all the comforts and attractions it affords. The four season climate and abundance of cultural and outdoor activities, along with five-star restaurants, major league sporting attractions, and a diverse economy makes St. Louis an attractive place to live, work and play!
Candidates must be passionate about supporting physiologic birth; work well with all members of the birthing center team, and be committed to a model of excellence. Candidates need to be certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and have minimum of five year of full scope experience.
About Mercy Birthing Center & Mercy Hospital St Louis
Welcome to the Mercy!
Mercy is the maternity leader in the St Louis community, now thanks in large part to our rapidly growing midwifery presence.
Mercy Birthing Center opened Labor Day of 2014. Since then our team has helped welcome approximately 800 babies into this world. Mercy recognized that many women are looking for a natural childbirth experience with midwives, so we opened the are...a’s first in-hospital low-risk birthing center managed by certified nurse midwives. In fact, we are actually one of very few integrated birthing centers in the United States!
The birthing center offers women a home-like birth, with high touch and low intervention. The birthing suites are decorated in warm, beautiful colors, creating a calming ambience, resembling bedrooms in your home. Each suite has a queen-size bed, showers and large tubs for labor. The birthing center also includes a central living room area for family members, a kitchen, a large room for natural childbirth classes and a clinic for prenatal, postpartum, newborn, and well women appointments. Doulas and family members are welcome to be part of the birthing experience.
Mercy Hospital is also home to a highly sought-after OBGYN residency program. We welcome nearly 9000 babies a year on our Labor & Birth unit, which provides a rich experience for our resident physicians. This year we have launched a faculty midwife service to educate, supervise, and invest in our residents. What an incredible opportunity this is for midwives to train physicians, share with them the midwifery model of care, and instill a passion for obstetrics. We are moving the dial and improving patient care. Come grow this awesome practice with us!
